What this price means
- It is our buying price: not the market price, nor our selling price.
- It is per gram of metal of each purity.
- It is a guide price: confirmed when we weigh it in the shop.
- How we work it out: the international gold price in euros per troy ounce (31.1035 g), converted to grams, times the purity, minus our margin.
- Other buyers: what other gold buyers in Barcelona payES (in Spanish).
Carats, fineness and purity
CaratsES (in Spanish) measure gold in 24 parts; the stamp gives it in parts per thousand.
| Carats | Fineness (stamp) | Pure gold |
|---|---|---|
| 24ct | 999 | 99.9% |
| 22ct | 916 | 91.6% |
| 18ct | 750 | 75% |
| 14ct | 585 | 58.5% |
| 9ct | 375 | 37.5% |
Silver only has a fineness: 999 is fine silver and 925 is sterling silver. Sell silver.
Questions about the gold price
What is a gram of 18ct gold worth?
Whatever the 18ct row of the table shows today. Multiply it by the weight of the item without stones.
Is the price per gram of pure gold or per gram of the item?
Per gram of metal of the stated purity. The 18ct price already allows for that alloy being 75% gold: multiply it by the grams of your item, without stones.
Why can the final price differ from the calculator?
Because the calculator uses the weight and carat you enter. In the shop we weigh the item, deduct anything that is not metal, test the purity and apply the price of that moment.
Is now a good time to sell?
We do not forecast prices; every day we publish what we pay.
What does ‘Guide prices’ mean?
That the market price could not be updated in time. The figure is a guide and is confirmed in the shop.
Is it also the price you sell gold at?
No. It is the price we buy at. The bars and coins we sell have their own selling price.
Sell your gold at this price or pawn it. We weigh and test it in front of you, with no obligation.
